My Mustache Man!

Erik and I agree on alot of things:
1. Never putting our kids on leashes.
2. Vans shoes are bomb.
3. The beach can cure anything.
Just to name a few.
There are also alot of things we don't agree on, and right now our hottest topic of disagreeance is:
Mustaches.

You see, Erik seems to think that they are "in". And if they're not in he says he will bring them back in. Personally I'm not a fan. I'm not really a fan of facial hair at all, but every once in a while if he wants to grow a little scruff I am ok with that. But I am not ok with the mustache. The thing is, I don't exactly make him shave his mustache or facial hair unless it gets too out of hand. I strongly suggest it about 20 times a day, but I don't make him. The way I look at it, he doesn't tell me how to do my hair or what to wear. I need to let him be his own person. Some people ask me (mainly my mother, but there have been a few other curious people), "Why don't you just make him shave it?" This has been a great question between the two of us. Why do wives make their husbands shave, and why should husbands have listen to their wives?

Well blog readers, that is the question I want to ask you.
Do you make your husband shave his facial hair, or cut his hair if you're not a fan of the way it looks?

I want to know everyone's opinion, so please comment!
Even if you're not married I want to know your thoughts on mustaches, this is open to everyone!
What do you think?

Today was a good day

It started out terrible.  I couldn't fall back asleep after Erik left for work at 4:30 this morning.  I was so stressed and nervous about my last final I had this morning at 10:30 that sleep just didn't seem that important.  Finally at about 6:30 I got out of bed and decided to keep studying. I take my exam (who knows how I did, I'm just glad its over!), and I was on my way to a job interview I had over on Baseline and Recker.  Has anyone been down there lately? Its crazy with construction! I miss my appointment because I was looking for a building that seriously didn't exist.  I was rescheduled for later on this afternoon where I finally found the building, showed up on time and then had to wait an hour for the man who was supposed to be interviewing me.  I was getting extremely frustrated and all the secretaries could tell me was "He's running late but he's on his way". Gah!  Finally he showed up interviewed me and......

....hired me on the spot-
Hooray!
So, not only is my ridiculous microbiology class over, but you are looking at the newest Yogurt Shop employee.  (laugh all you want but a job is a job, and who wouldn't want to work with yogurt?)

So in conclusion, I hope you had a good day too!

The "Spot"

You know when you eat something really good and you walk away thinking "Man that hit the spot", and how it is one of the greatest feelings? That spot that is in the pit of your stomach and it feels really really good after it has been hit?  Well that is what our entire weekend consisted of.  Everything we did, and not just the food we ate, we walked away thinking of the wonderful spot that had just been vacated.

One of Erik's good friends from high school got married on Saturday, so we decided to surprise him and go to the wedding.  We spent the day before at the beach and had a blast.  In the end we may have gotten a little too much sun, (I actually got sick from it.  Weird I know, I'm an AZ girl and I got sick from the sun.  Pathetic.) but it was still so much fun.

Now I didn't want this to be a mass post of pics, but I personally hate it when people go out of town and they only post one picture.  I'm always dying for more pictures, I want to know where they went and what they did.  That is probably why my picture is in the dictionary next to "blog stalker".  Anyways, here is some fun stuff we did.

(Erik took this pic while riding his bike down the hill, I was impressed)

One of our favorite things to do is rent bikes at Newport Beach and then ride them over to Huntington Beach.  Its a great scenic route, and you get your exercise!

Erik and his dad Mark.  He was there on business so we met up with him and spent the weekend hanging out together.  He was so nice to drive us everywhere and do whatever we wanted.  Thanks Mark!  (P.S...he also paid.  He's the best!)

Perry's Pizza in Newport is the best pizza you will ever have in your life, no joke.

On the Huntington Beach pier.  They were having the World Surfing Competition the next day so it was crazy!

We were able to meet up with one of Erik's mission companions John Skaggs.  Probably one of the top 5 funniest people you'll ever meet.  (John if you read this I'm being totally serious!)

And of course, the Balboa Bar.  Heaven on a stick.  Trust me.

This is the place where Jordan and Athena were married.  It was so beautiful, overlooking the beach.

Jordan had no idea we were coming so he was really surprised!  They look so great together, and the reception was so much fun. Erik and I know how to get down on the dance floor at receptions.  Lets just say it was a PAR-TAY.

I hope your weekend was as good as ours!

Stinky

So last night my husband and I are having a little cuddle-cuddle on the couch while watching my favorite show in the world So You Think You Can Dance.  He was running his fingers through my hair while I was thinking "My husband is the best, he is so good to me".  I was about to say something about it to him when he kissed my head and then pulled his head back fast and said in a disgusted tone:

Erik: Oh wow you stink so bad! When was the last time you washed your hair??
Me: Last Friday.
Erik: Gross! I knew I called you Stinky for a reason.  You seriously smell.

I don't know about anyone else, but washing my hair is not my favorite thing.  I only wash my hair about twice a week, if that even.  It takes too long in the shower, and then the blow drying and the straightening.  It is so much easier if you just don't wash it.

Oh California

How I long for you.

I can't wait to walk along your beach tomorrow.

I can't wait to soak up the UV rays you provide.

I can't wait to get my beach cruiser from May and Patrick at the bike shop

And take the ferry across to Balboa Island.

And take a bite into the most delicious thing in the world:
a Balboa Bar.

California here we come!

Nerd Fest

Last night Erik and I went and saw the midnight showing of Harry Potter! We jumped into the world of "lets go to the movie theater hours before it starts just so we can get a good seat". It actually really paid off. We played cards with friends while waiting in line, and Erik and Jesse bought beach balls to toss around the theater (ya I know, my husband is that guy at the movies--but I love it). We decided to embrace our inner witch and wizard. Erik couldn't help but to wear his Gryffindor tie, and I drew a lightning bolt on his forehead (And he's such a fan he's never even read a Harry Potter book!). Thank goodness no one dressed up like Voldemort this time, I think that gave people quite a scare when they saw him walking out of the bathroom. There were people running around everywhere screaming "HE'S BACK!" But we did see this cool wizard:

And this adorable Hagrid:

In my opinion: best Harry Potter movie yet. It did a really good job at explaining all of the hard stuff in the book, and it was just really good. And I secretely have a crush on Ron Weasley and have since movie one. Something about the red hair and freckles just really does it for me, but don't tell Erik.

Buddy "Bud" Dink

My husband just told me I look like this:

Anyone recognize him from the Nickelodeon show "Doug"?

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Sometimes life gets the best of me, and that is what has been happening lately. You're probably wondering why you have been getting so many music updates. Well that is what happens when I don't have time to update the blog and so my wonderful husband does it for me.

I wish I could say we have been on some cool vacation, or doing something that would make a great story. But the truth is, we haven't. Our days have been filled with work and school, work and school (my work consists of working to find a job). Erik finished his online History of Rock and Roll class last week and got an A of course. If anyone were to get an A in that class it would have been him. I have been going to school, studying microbiology day in and day out, and attempting to land a job. The competition is tough. I am very happy to say I only have 2 weeks left of school and I am done!--for the summer at least. Erik says I have become a bit of a hypochondriac since I have been in that class (you would be too if you knew all of the diseases you could get just by putting something in your mouth.)

A few weekends ago we went to the drive-ins with some friends of ours Jesse and Michelle Woodbury. They have been married for almost 2 months and it has been great having married friends! We just threw a twin mattress into the back of our truck so we could be all comfy. It worked a lot better than what we expected.
Erik and Jesse have been best friends since they were 15 when Erik moved here to AZ from California.

A week from today we will be going to California and the beach for a wedding. Erik's friend Jordan Nielson is getting married and we are so excited! I can not wait to spend the weekend at the beach, we'll definitely post pics!

47 days until
the Incubus concert
